Giant Schnauzer
Whether you are looking to purchase the Giant Schnauzer for yourself or as a gift for someone else, it is important to know everything that you possibly can about this breed. This is a bold and protective dog, good with children in its own family but often too boisterous with small children.
This dog breed is intelligent and is used as a police dog in Germany. Although they excel at this job, they have not been accepted in this role outside of Germany.

Dachsund
Originating from Germany the Dachshund dog breed dates back hundreds of years. It was originally bred for hunting badgers and hares.
The word “dachs” means badger but they are also nicknamed sausage dogs or wiener dogs, because of their elongated shape obviously.
If you own a dachshund I would recommend that you start taking your dog to training classes as dachshunds can be very hard to train due to their stubborn nature. They are strong minded, energetic, curious dogs and can get into quite a lot of mischief.

Your dog needs a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrates and fats to maintain good general health, a healthy skin and coat, and plenty of energy. Broad guidelines are: 20-25% protein, 20-35% fat and 40-60% carbohydrate. Like humans, they need vitamins and minerals, though unlike us their need for vitamin C is satisfied by their ability to synthesize it for themselves. Essential vitamin B1, however, is not stored by dogs, and can be lost in food processing. It may need to be supplied as a supplement. Continue reading “Feeding Your Dog”

When dogs age, they begin to suffer from some of the same maladies that humans do as they grow older. Arthritis, and specifically spinal arthritis, is one of those maladies. In fact, because of a dog’s horizontal backbone, the stress on the vertebral bones makes dogs even more prone to spinal arthritis than their owners.
